Jammu University Last Date Extended Admission to Session 2021-22

The last date for submission of Application Forms by the eligible candidates (also appearing in qualifying examination) for the admission to two years M. Tech. programme in Computer Science for the session 2021-22 has been extended till 30th September, 2021.

The applications are to be submitted through online form alongwith a payment of Rs. 300/- (Rs. 1000/- for Self Financed category).

The application form alongwith admission brochure is available on the University website: http://www.jammuuniversity.ac.in/node/1039.

The candidates shall remain in touch with the department through telephone no. 2432715, email hodcscit@gmail.com and check the university website for further updates.

The reservation roster shall be applicable as notified by the University of Jammu for the academic session 2021-22.

Ladakh UT declares its own state bird & animal

Nearly two years after the reorganization of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, the administration of Ladakh has declared snow leopard as state animal and black-necked crane as state bird for the Union Territory.

“The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Ladakh is pleased to declare” snow leopard” (Panther unica) and “black-necked crane”( Grus nicricollis) as state animal and state bird, respectively, of the Union Territory of Ladakh from the date of issue of this notification,”  the notification issued by the UT’s Forest, Ecology and Environment as saying.

The black-necked crane, which was also the state bird of the erstwhile state of J&K, is found only in Ladakh in India.

Classified as vulnerable, the black-necked crane is a tall bird with a height of about 1.35 m, a wingspan of about 2-2.5m and weighs about 6-8 kg with a bright red crown on the head. Usually seen in pairs, their courtship dance has inspired one of Ladakh’s famous folk dances – Chartses.

The mountainous region of the western and eastern Himalayas is the habitat of snow leopards in India. They are primarily found in Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.

It is pertinent to mention that Hangul was the state animal of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir which also comprised Ladakh.
